North Jakarta Forkopimko Ensures Tightened Security During Ramadan

North Jakarta Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimko) held a public order and security assembly to maintain public order during Ramadan.

"...have established 27 monitoring posts across several vulnerable locations,"

The event was held at the West Plaza courtyard of the North Jakarta Mayor’s Office and was led by North Jakarta Mayor Hendra Hidayat, with North Jakarta Metro Police Chief Erick Frendriz, Military District Commander (Dandim) 0502/North Jakarta, community leaders and other stakeholders in attendance.

Hendra said the assembly followed a similar event previously held at the provincial level with the Metro Jaya Police chief and related stakeholders.

He stressed that all elements of North Jakarta Forkopimko are committed to jointly maintaining security and public order throughout Ramadan.

"Today, North Jakarta Forkopimko is fully present to follow up on the activity at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters. We jointly declare our commitment to safeguarding security and public order in North Jakarta," he stated on Thursday (2/26).

Hendra explained that Ramadan requires special attention due to increased public activity, which could potentially disrupt public order if not anticipated early.

He urged parents to strengthen supervision of their children, particularly teenagers, to prevent them from engaging in activities that could harm themselves or the community.

"We want to ensure that North Jakarta remains safe, comfortable, peaceful and conducive so residents can observe Ramadan securely and solemnly," he added.

Meanwhile, North Jakarta Metro Police Chief Erick Frendriz said security challenges tend to increase during Ramadan as community activities take place almost around the clock.

According to him, potential disturbances being anticipated include street brawls, illegal street racing and other negative activities.

"To anticipate these issues, we, together with the three-pillar elements and the community, have established 27 monitoring posts across several vulnerable locations," he informed.

He added that the monitoring posts involve personnel from the Indonesian Military (TNI), the National Police (Polri), the local administration and community members to curb potential public order disturbances during Ramadan.

"We will take firm action against those involved in brawls or anyone found carrying sharp weapons. All violations will be processed in accordance with prevailing laws," he asserted.
